Delegation from the CityU visited Shandong University and participated in the Grand Ceremony of Worship of Confucius

During the “Double Celebration” of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Vice Chairman Kong Fanqing of the University Council of City University of Macau and Pro-Rector Vince Chu led a delegation of administrative staff members to visit Shandong, with strong support from the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial People’s Government. The delegation visited Shandong University and participated in the “Grand Ceremony of Worship of Confucius” to gain a deep appreciation of Chinese culture.

 

During the visit to Shandong University, the delegation was warmly received by Vice President Zhu Dejian. Discussions focused on cooperation in talent cultivation, academic exchange, and other areas. Both sides hope to strengthen concrete cooperation within the Alliance of Higher Education Institutions in Shandong, Hong Kong and Macao, promoting mutual learning in talent cultivation and cultural exchange. The delegation also visited the Shandong University History Museum and the Chinese Traditional Culture Research and Experience Base. They learned about Shandong University’s significant contributions to Chinese higher education and immersed themselves in various aspects of traditional Chinese culture, including rites, music, archery, charioteering, calligraphy, and mathematics, fully experiencing the charm of Chinese culture.

 

On the occasion of the 2,575th anniversary of Confucius’ birth, the delegation attended the ” Grand Ceremony of Worship of Confucius” held at the Confucius Temple in Qufu, Shandong on September 28 as guest representatives from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Vice Chairman Kong Fanqing served as the main guest at the ceremony and presented a floral tribute to Confucius. The delegation, along with guests from around the world, paid respects to Confucius by bowing, expressing their admiration for him. After the ceremony, the delegation also visited the Confucius Mansion and the Confucius Museum, gaining a deep understanding of Confucius’s life and great achievements. Members of the delegation expressed profound sentiments and inspiration from the visit.

 

City University of Macau has consistently upheld its social responsibility and educational philosophy of “serving Macao, integrating into the Greater Bay Area.” The University always attaches great importance to staff training and development, as well as promoting patriotism, patriotic education and Chinese culture education. This cultural exchange has strengthened the connection between the City University of Macau and Shandong universities, with hopes for further cooperation in education and culture.
