The City University of Macau (CityU) has recently organized an Academic Staff Orientation to welcome a new batch of academic elites joining the University. Over 90 academic staff members have joined CityU this year, injecting new strength into the University’s teaching and research, contributing to the cultivation of high-level talents and the continuous improvement of the educational quality and academic standards of the University.
For three consecutive days, CityU has organized training sessions for new academic staff members. Presented by University leaders and department heads in various functional areas, these sessions introduced the University’s current situation from various aspects, so as to deepen the new academics’ understanding of the University, as well as to enhance communication and exchanges. This year’s new academic staff members have diverse academic backgrounds and research experiences in various fields, covering computer science, network security, information engineering, data analysis, mathematics, finance, economics, accounting, management, marketing, hospitality and tourism management, applied psychology, cognitive neuroscience, social work, pedagogy, art, applied language, music, etc. They have studied and worked in renowned universities in China and abroad, such as Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Sun Yat-sen University, Wuhan University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Warwick, University of Melbourne, University of Sydney, National University of Singapore, etc.
The new group of outstanding academics will continue to have a positive impact on and contribute to the development of cutting-edge innovative research, the creation of inspiring learning environments, and the facilitation of knowledge-sharing, all of which will contribute to the advancement of innovation and the development of the research field.
