CityU organizes staff members to visit “Centro Ambiental Alegria (Environmental FUN Centre)” to raise environmental awareness

In order to cultivate environmental protection awareness of our staff members, the University organized a tour to the Centro Ambiental Alegria (Environmental FUN Centre) on April 17 (Wednesday). Through the interactive sessions on recycling knowledge and hands-on experience, the activity aims to enhance the staff members’ awareness of environmental protection and actively promote the practice of recycling behavior.

Under the guidance of the docent, colleagues learned about the current recyclable items and clean recycling methods in Macao, and participated in environmental protection workshops. During the workshop, colleagues used fruit peels, sugar and water to make environmentally friendly enzymes, turning waste items into daily necessities and practicing the concept of environmental protection. Subsequently, they also participated in environmental protection sorting activities. Colleagues classified recyclables such as paper, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and glass bottles and placed them in appropriate recycling bins. They actually felt and experienced the clean recovery and recycling of items. Colleagues who participated expressed that they gained a lot. Through this activity, they learned about the process and treatment methods of waste recycling, and learned how to make environmentally friendly enzymes. In the future, they will actively practice environmentally friendly recycling behaviors in their daily lives and shoulder the social responsibility of environmental protection.

City University of Macau has consistently upheld its social responsibility and educational philosophy of“serving Macao, integrating into the Greater Bay Area.”and committed to promoting environmental education. While the University attaches great importance to staff training and development, it also attaches great importance to strengthening staff members’ awareness of environmental protection and environmental ethical responsibilities. We will continue to hold relevant series of activities and seminars in the future to continuously enhance staff members’ knowledge and understanding of related fields.
