The City University of Macau is conducting a global search for the position of Vice Rector. The Vice Rector is responsible for all teaching and learning related matters in the University, reporting to Rector, the appointee will be expected to assume the following responsibilities:
Specific Responsibilities include (but not limited to)
- Responsible for the implementation of strategic plans according to University’s distinctive academic vision;
- Advance continuous development of the academic units and faculty staff, including enhancement of teaching and learning experiences, teaching quality, student service and satisfactions;
- Lead all teaching-related affairs, including quality assurance and accreditation, academic program application, revision and arrangement, student registration and other related teaching affairs in the University;
- Design and lead awards and grants related to teaching excellence and teaching innovation;
- Coordinate all academic activities at local, national and international levels that are conducive to academic excellence and the University’s strategic direction;
- Contribute to the University’s mission and advancing its international visibility;
- Perform other projects and assignments as required.
Requirements
- An earned PhD degree and a full professor of international stature;
- Proved record in significant academic accomplishments and leadership experience (particularly in teaching affairs) with at least 5 years’ experience;
- Exceptional management and communication skills, with ability to motivate and lead multi-disciplinary teams to accomplish organizational goals;
- Strong commitment in upholding academic quality and standard of the University;
- Proactive and forward-looking, adept at identifying trends and developments in higher education;
- Excellent international, national and local networks with the academic, business, professional and public sectors;
- Proficiency in both English and Mandarin, knowledge of Cantonese and Portuguese will be an advantage.
Remuneration
The remuneration and appointment rank offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicant’s academic qualifications, current position and professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate in Macao is 12%, however it is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
