CityU holds a series of Orientation Training Activities For New Academic Staff

City University of Macau is dedicated to nurturing young talents for the Greater Bay Area. As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our faculty team, the University has been recruiting academic personnel with diverse disciplinary backgrounds on a global scale. We are delighted to announce that we have welcomed over 70 outstanding scholars from around the world to join our CityU family in this academic year.

To facilitate a seamless integration into CityU life, the Human Resources Office organized a series of pre-onboarding activities for the new academic staff members from August 21st to 24th. These activities included a Welcome Reception with University Leaders and job-related training sessions, aimed at providing support and assistance in their professional roles and ensuring a smooth start to the new academic year.

During the Welcome Reception, Rector Jun Liu, Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei, Pro-Rector Vince Chu Te Lin, and faculty deans engaged in meaningful communication with the newly joined colleagues. Rector Jun Liu shared an overview of the University’s current status and future goals, highlighting the expansion of disciplines, recruitment of additional faculty, and increasing student numbers as evidence of CityU’s rapid development. He encouraged everyone to contribute towards establishing a metropolitan university that reflects Macao’s characteristics, embodies China’s essence, and embraces a global vision. Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei warmly welcomed the new colleagues, expressing the desire for collaborative efforts in embracing the exciting future ahead. A welcome lunch was organized in order to provide an opportunity for all staff to engage in conversations with the University Leaders in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

Over the course of the next four days, a comprehensive job-related training program will be conducted, covering both academic and administrative aspects. The primary goal of this training is to familiarize newly joined staff members with the university’s academic culture, teaching and research policies, as well as administrative procedures. Additionally, they will gain insights into the various resources and support services available to them.

City University of Macau remains committed to fulfilling its social responsibility and mission of serving Macao and integrating into the Greater Bay Area. In line with this commitment, the university will continue to provide staff members with ample training and development opportunities, along with platforms for them to express themselves. By working together, we can contribute to the growth of the university and strive towards cultivating more local talents for both Macau and the Greater Bay Area.
