City University of Macau (CityU) hosts End-of-Semester Sharing Session for New Faculty Members

City University of Macau is committed to continuously enhancing its teaching quality. We build and maintain an excellent teaching team by recruiting top talents from different backgrounds all over the world. In order to let the newly recruited faculty members of the 2022/2023 academic year get to know each other, CityU held an end-of-semester sharing session yesterday, allowing everyone to share their work at CityU and life in Macau in the past year in a relaxed atmosphere. During the session, new faculty members communicated their ideals and challenges at work, as well as ways to lift up teaching and research abilities. Rector Jun Liu, Vice Rector Wanlei Zhou and Pro-Rector Vince Chu were invited to this event.

In the session, Rector Liu expressed his gratitude to everyone for their dedication and efforts, and encouraged faculty members to continue to explore their respective disciplines, promote the academic and research development of CityU and make outstanding contributions. Vice Rector Zhou encouraged faculty members to conduct interdisciplinary exchanges, promote the overall quality of CityU, integrate academic norms with CityU’s philosophy, and build CityU into a high-level, international comprehensive university. Pro-Rector Chu emphasized that CityU attaches great importance to the physical and mental development and needs of faculty members, and CityU is committed to providing a good teaching and working environment for everyone, so as to better improve the quality of teaching and realize the social functions of the University.

All faculty members had pleasant communications. Some expressed that students’ learning ability has soared which made them also benefit from teaching. They also thanked CityU for providing many development opportunities, and appreciated CityU’s teaching philosophy which put high values on teacher-student interaction. At the same time, they sent gratitude to the administrative colleagues for their unreserved assistance so that they can focus on excelling teaching work. This event is successful and receives good feedback.

CityU has always been adhering to the social responsibility and education philosophy of “Serving Macau, Integrating into Greater Bay Area” and emphasizes staff training and development. CityU hopes to deliver caring vibes to our valuable staff members and strengthen communications by organizing staff events, in the vision that we will all grow together and strive to cultivate more local talents.
