CityU Holds “Prevention of COVID-19 and COVID-19 Vaccines” Workshop​

The Coronavirus has affected the world severely in recent years, to let our staff members know more about how serious COVID-19 has brought to one’s health and the importance of taking COVID-19 vaccines, CityU has invited Dr. Ung Oi Lam, Assistant Professor of The Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences and Faculty of Health Sciences of University of Macau, and Secretary General of The Pharmaceutical Society of Macao, to hold a workshop on “Prevention of COVID-19 and the information of COVID-19 Vaccines” yesterday, explaining the effectiveness of the COVID1-19 vaccine and the importance of taking the vaccination.

Dr. Ung shared the global vaccination rate and resolve many common misunderstandings about the vaccination to our staff member. By explaining the types of vaccines, the effectiveness and importance of the vaccination, it not only helps to deepen our staff members’ knowledge of coronavirus, the vaccines Macao is using, how the vaccine can build the protective barriers in local community, but also strengthen our colleagues’ confidence in getting the vaccination.

During the Q&A session, our colleagues were keen to ask questions about the reaction after vaccination and how to select the suitable vaccine for themselves and their families, Dr. Ung answered them in detail with her professional knowledge and experience. The atmosphere of the workshop was relaxed and pleasant. Some colleagues expressed this workshop is very useful and informative, and they can share what they have learnt to their family.

The City University of Macau always upholds the social responsibility and philosophy of “rooting in Macau and serving the Greater Bay Area”. We pay attention to the work safety and physical and mental health of staff members while attaching importance to personnel training and development. CityU has also launched the “Staff & Family Member Vaccination Leave Program” in early March, besides encouraging our staff member to take the vaccine, the university hopes our staff members can spend time accompanying their family to take the vaccination and take care of them.
