CityU Health Week Event Series to Build a Wholesome Lifestyle for All

In order to raise the health awareness among staff and promote a balanced diet and a good lifestyle, City University of Macau organizes a series of Health Week activities in May every year. The Health Week Event Series this year was successfully held from May 20 to 24 with active participation from our staff members. Activities included a two-day herbal tea bags distribution, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Pulse Checking Booth, “Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Care” Workshop, and Basic Yoga Experience Workshop.

During the herbal tea bags distribution day, not only could colleagues receive herbal tea bags on site, Human Resources Office had also set up a Q&A activity on health knowledge. During the Q&A process, colleagues could gain more health knowledge and receive small gifts. Additionally, a registered TCM practitioner was specially invited to provide on-site personal health consultation and pulse check for staff members, creating a warm and interactive atmosphere.

In the “Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Care” Workshop, CityU invited a professional registered TCM practitioner to explain the impact of summer climate on the body, and gave professional explanations based on specific cases regarding common summer diseases (such as gastroenteritis, joint pain, insomnia, heat stroke, etc.) and provided relevant conditioning methods. Finally, the speaker also shared seasonal dietary taboos and health rules for treating winter diseases in summer. Participants said that they gained a lot of relevant knowledge, especially what to do in the hot summer when heatstroke often occurs. This Workshop provided relevant TCM health care methods and they had benefited a lot. They hoped that the University would hold more related activities.

City University of Macau recognizes the significance of our staff members. We have always been embracing a people-oriented spirit and are committed to maintaining a healthy work-life balance for all. Through events like Health Week, we aim to demonstrate care and attention to staff members, ensuring they feel supported and valued.
