CityU Holds Activities for Health Week 2023

To continuously pay close attention to the physical and mental health of all staff members, City University of Macau organizes “Health Week Series Activities” with different themes annually to increase the health awareness of our staff members. With the theme of “Balanced Diet” this year, CityU held a “Healthy Diet Workshop” and a “Fruit Distribution Day” event on 24 and 25 May respectively to encourage staff members to attach great importance to their own health, and promote a balanced diet and good lifestyle.

In the “Healthy Diet Workshop” on May 24, the University invited Ms. Parris Fok, President of the Macau Professional Nutritionist Association, to introduce how to improve immunity through a balanced diet, the principles of the “Food Pyramid”, and the importance of a balanced intake of various nutrients. The workshop was enthusiastically received. Some participants raised questions about healthy menu and ketogenic diet, and Ms. Fok explained with professional knowledge and real case study. The atmosphere of the workshop was relaxed and pleasant. Colleagues who participated in the activity said that they have learned a lot about effective and sustainable healthy diet from this workshop, and hope that the University can hold more similar activities in the future.

During the “Fruit Distribution Day” on May 25, the Human Resources Office set up a fruit booth and a knowledge sharing station for our staff members to learn more health tips related to fruits and apply to their daily life while receiving the fruit. There was also a body composition monitor and a blood pressure monitor at the booth for self-checking. The measurement indicators of the equipment were also shown on site for clear reference.

City University of Macau has always been adhering to the “people-oriented” spirit, paying attention to the physical and mental development of all staff members, and would also like to promote the importance of work-health balance. The University will continue to organize related series of activities and workshops in the future to continuously raise the awareness of colleagues on maintaining health.
