Health Week for CityU Staff Members

City University of Macau always pays high attention to our staff member’s physical and mental health, especially under the epidemic. This year, the University launched a series of “Health Week” events as always from May 24 to 28, including a 2-day Fruits Giveaway and two Health Workshops with professionals in specific areas as guest speakers, to better promote the concept of healthy life in campus. Through these activities, the University would like to strengthen our staff members’ awareness on personal hygiene and health concept, and believe that together we can fight against the challenges brought by the epidemic.

During the 2-day Fruits Giveaway event, Human Resources Office has set up an interesting and interactive “Fruit Knowledge Challenge Game Booth” for our staff members, sharing knowledge related to fruits and healthy diet. Additional gifts have been given to staff members as prizes for their participation. Everyone enjoyed it very much.

The University also arranged two Health Workshops including “Chronic Pain and Physiotherapy” and “Oral Health” workshop. Therapists from Macau Step Forward Physiotherapy Centre talked about chronic pain, its common causes and pain prevention. Through the sharing of common cases, the therapists showed our staff members the incorrect walking and sitting posture, and other details that people may easily neglect in their daily life. The therapist also taught them a series of physical health exercises, and answered their questions about back pain, shoulder and neck discomfort, and muscle aches etc.

In the “Oral Health” workshop, CityU invited dentists from Our Dental Clinic to provide professional treatment suggestions and share some cases of common oral diseases (such as tooth decay, periodontal disease, swelling and pain, as well as soreness). During Q&A session, participants actively asked questions related to oral health. One of our staff members who attended both workshops mentioned that the workshops have benefited him a lot, especially in deepening his understanding of oral hygiene and physical health, and he looks forward to more workshops at CityU in the future.

The City University of Macau greatly values personnel training and development, and will continue to uphold the “people-oriented” principle as its commitment to cultivate more local talents for social development. CityU will organize different workshops in the future for staff development outside working hours.
