CityU Staff Broaden Cultural Horizons in Wine Tasting Introductory Workshop

To enrich the cultural life of staff members and share the warmth of the festive season, the University hosted a Wine Tasting Introductory Workshop on December 19, 2025. The workshop invited a WSET-certified professional instructor to guide participants into the world of wine and experience its unique charm.

The workshop offered an array of red wines samples from various countries and regions. The instructor started with the basics, and then elaborated on the characteristics of wines from different regions and the correlation between grape varieties and taste profiles, enhancing colleagues’ cultural perspectives and professional knowledge in this area.

During the practical tasting session, participants followed the instructor’s guidance to sample a variety of red wines with distinct styles while carefully recording the differences and characteristics. The following exchange session brought colleagues together to chat about their gains from this workshop, as well as interesting stories from work and daily life. Mr. Chen from General Affairs Office shared “I rarely had the chance to come into contact with wine before, this workshop not only taught me practical tasting skills but also allowed me to meet colleagues from other departments, making me feel the warmth of festive season in advance.” As Christmas approaches, the instructor specially prepared mulled wine on site, gently simmering cinnamon and fresh fruits in the wine to add a touch of warmth to the festive atmosphere. The workshop concluded with a group photo, capturing this engaging moment of memorable peer friendship.

This Wine Tasting Introductory Workshop not only provided a platform for staff members to learn wine knowledge and enhance their quality of life but also fostered cross-departmental communication and friendship through cultural exchange. In the future, Human Resources Office will continue to launch a variety of cultural and lifestyle activities tailored to the diverse needs of our staff members, striving to build a warm campus where everyone can enjoy the beauty of life amid busy work.
