CityU Celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival with Charity Mooncake and Festive Fun

To celebrate the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival and convey heartfelt care to staff members while fulfilling social responsibilities, CityU simultaneously hosted Mid-Autumn Festival celebration event at its Taipa Main Campus and Macao Campus on September 29, 2025. The celebration featured meaningful mooncake gift sets and engaging activities, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere for all.

Charity Mooncake Distribution: One Gift Box, Double Warmth

Unlike ordinary mooncake gift sets, the gift sets for each staff member were specially sourced from a local charity organization. The mooncakes were made by a local traditional pastry shop in Macao, and the gift set design showcased creative artworks by artists with diverse disabilities from the Fuhong Society of Macau. Proceeds from the mooncake sales support the services for vulnerable groups. A staff member shared, “Receiving this gift box feels very meaningful. It not only allows me to share the taste of Mid-Autumn with my family but also helps those in need, fully reflecting CityU’s mission of upholding virtue and serving the community through action.”

Mini-Games Booth: Popular Spot for Connection, Culture and Fun

Recognizing that staff members are usually busy with work and have few opportunities for casual exchanges with colleagues, the event set up a “Friendship Corner” booth. Staff could pick mystery bottles containing a note with self-introduction and contact information from colleagues across departments – sparking new connections in a playful way. Equally popular was the “Lantern Riddle” booth, which covered topics such as traditional culture and Chinese character structures, and participants who answered correctly received knitted tote bags or DIY lantern kits. One participant shared, “I plan to make a lantern with my child tonight – it not only lets us enjoy the fun of handcrafting but also allows me to introduce traditional culture like Mid-Autumn customs to my child.”

This Mid-Autumn event not only continued the tradition of “festival staff care” but also added depth and warmth to the festival through the combination of “charity and social connection.” In the future, CityU will continue to integrate social responsibility elements into traditional festivals and launch more activities that combine care and public welfare, delivering warmth and care to its staff members while participating in local public welfare initiatives in Macao, jointly building a caring and responsible campus ecosystem.
