A New Chapter for Healthy Campus: Employee Assistance Program Officially Launched at City University of Macau

Recently, the Macau Health Bureau and the Education and Youth Development Bureau joined forces with ten universities across Macau to launch the “Healthy Campus” initiative. This collaboration marks a significant step in innovative synergy for Macau’s higher education institutions regarding health promotion, psychological care, and environmental improvement. As an active member in this initiative, City University of Macau has always prioritized the physical and mental well-being of its staff members, and has consistently organized diverse activities for staff care and health promotion. In this new academic year, City University of Macau officially launches its Employee Assistance Program (EAP), striving to enhance the welfare and professional development of University staff while furthering the “Healthy Campus” vision.

Over the past few years, City University of Macau has relentlessly provided educational, practical, and interactive health activities related to staff stress management, career development, and psychological care, such as Health Week Series Events, Leisure Workshops, First Aid Knowledge Training, and Mental Health First Aid Standard Course. These measures not only support government’s “Healthy Campus” initiative, but also embody the University’s “People-oriented” governance philosophy and have earned widespread praise from staff members.

Building on previous achievements, City University of Macau is launching the “Employee Assistance Program” in the new academic year. Jointly developed by the University’s Human Resources Office and Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office, this program offers a series of physical and mental health activities, as well as professional, safe, and confidential counseling services. These resources support staff members overcome personal and work-related challenges, improve their quality of life and job performance, and foster a supportive and caring work culture and environment.

The implementation of this program underscores City University of Macau’s strong commitment to the well-being and professional growth of its staff members and serves as a proactive response to building a “Healthy Campus”. By integrating comprehensive support services, the University hopes every staff member will receive holistic assistance for their physical, mental, and social needs, advancing the shared vision of a healthy campus. Moving forward, the University will continue collaborating with local and international health promotion organizations to expand the breadth and depth of support services, working hand-in-hand with the Macau government to realize the “Healthy Macau” and “Healthy Campus” vision!
