To commemorate history and honor the martyrs, City University of Macau organized approximately 90 staff members on September 3, the Victory Anniversary Day, to visit the “For National Liberation and World Peace—Thematic Exhibition Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.” With the support of the Museum of the War of the Chinese People’s Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Macao Special Administrative Region Government hosted this exhibition aiming to deepen the public, especially the younger generation’s, understanding of the history of the War of Resistance and promote the spirit of patriotism. The delegation, led by Vice Chairperson of the University Council Prof. Fanqing Kong, Vice Rector Prof. Wanlei Zhou and Prof. Kuai Peng Ip, University Council members Ms. Cintia Chan, Ms. Sandy Chan, Pro-Rector Dr. Wicky So, Dr. Robert Chan and Mr. Vince Chu, arrived at the Complex of Commerce and Trade Cooperation Platform between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries in the afternoon, embarking on a historical learning journey under the professional guidance of interpreters.
The exhibition systematically presents the arduous 14-year journey of the Chinese people’s War of Resistance through rich historical materials and artifacts, with a particular emphasis on the touching deeds of Macao compatriots who actively raised supplies, promoted national salvation, and supported the front lines during the war. Participants gained in-depth knowledge through historical images, replicas of artifacts, and multimedia videos, understanding how Macao society, despite being located in the Pearl River Delta, always shared the same breath and fate with the motherland in its historical responsibilities. The on-site Mandarin and English interpretation services were clear and vivid, helping visitors overcome language barriers and deeply comprehend the exhibition content.

During the visit, staff members frequently paused at the special section showcasing Macao’s contributions to the War of Resistance, expressing sincere admiration for the national integrity and patriotic sentiments demonstrated by various sectors in Macao during the Anti-Japanese War. Some colleagues noted that the exhibition not only recreated the grand history of the nationwide resistance but also meticulously outlined Macao’s unique role, profoundly conveying the weighty connotation of “the rise and fall of the nation is the responsibility of every individual.” The on-site exchange atmosphere was solemn yet enthusiastic, reflecting staff members emphasis on and reflection upon history.

This activity strengthened the staff members’ sense of identification and mission regarding national history, while also providing vivid teaching materials for patriotic education. In the future, the University will continue to promote related historical and cultural activities, guiding staff members to inherit the spirit of the War of Resistance and foster a consensus on peace. This visit was not only a historical review but also a practical action to consolidate patriotic sentiments and reinforce the original aspirations of education.

Meanwhile, the University successfully held a thematic film screening event at the Exhibition Hall of the Cultural Center on the Taipa Campus, which received enthusiastic participation from staff members.
Some staff members expressed that through this screening, they gained a deeper understanding of the profound significance of history and the hard-won nature of peace. They expect that the University will continue to organize similar cultural activities in the future, promoting historical education and the dissemination of peace ideals, fostering collective memory, and building a humanistic campus together.
CityU has always adhered to the social responsibility and educational philosophy of “serving Macao, integrating into the Greater Bay Area.” While actively advancing talent cultivation and academic development, it places high importance on the promotion and practice of patriotic education for loving the country and loving Macao, humanistic care and the values of world peace. To enhance staff members’ awareness of historical inheritance and the promotion of humanitarian spirit, the University will continue to organize related thematic activities and special lectures, constantly deepening staff members cognition and understanding of national history and the national spirit.
