Committed to campus safety and strengthening staff members’ fire emergency response capabilities, CityU hosted a thematic seminar on “Fire Safety Awareness” on 9 April. The event featured guest speakers Mr. Chan Tak Hou, a firefighter, and Ms. U Wan Kim, a special technician from the Macau Fire Services Bureau, drawing enthusiastic participation from staff members. Prior to the seminar, Ms. Chong Hoi I, Acting Head of Human Resources Office presented souvenirs to the speakers on behalf of the University.
The seminar provided a systematic overview of fire prevention measures, safety protocols for handling flammable materials, real-life fire case analyses, and practical fire escape and self-rescue techniques. Speakers emphasized practical knowledge tailored to the University’s building structures and essential items for emergency evacuation, such as using mobile phones for emergency calls and keys to activate fire alarms. By linking content to daily workplace and campus scenarios, the session equipped attendees with comprehensive skills to navigate fire safety risks, from prevention to emergency response, enabling them to make calm, informed decisions during crises. Participants said that the seminar covered critical topics like safe electricity and fire usage in offices and emergency access management, offering direct professional guidance in a lively atmosphere.

Upholding its mission of ” Serving Macao, integrating into the Greater Bay Area ” CityU continues to prioritize the safety of students and staff. As a key component of campus safety training framework, this seminar reinforced staff members’ risk awareness and enhanced their hands-on emergency response abilities. Looking ahead, CityU will continue to collaborate with professional organizations to launch a series of emergency safety initiatives, aiming to foster a safe campus environment and build a harmonious, secure educational community for all.
