The University has always placed great emphasis on the physical and mental well-being of students, as well as campus safety. In an effort to enhance the ability of staff members to respond effectively to student-related crises, the University invited Mr. Chan Un Tai, Principal Criminal Investigator of the Judiciary Police of Macau, to deliver a seminar titled “Student Incident Crisis Intervention and Handling Skills” on 26 March. The event was met with enthusiastic participation from University leaders, department heads, and staff members.

Prior to the seminar, Pro-Rector Chu Te Lin presented a souvenir to the Judiciary Police on behalf of the University, expressing gratitude for their support and collaboration. During the seminar, the speaker provided in-depth insights into key topics such as identifying and responding to students’ psychological conditions, campus crisis intervention strategies, and methods for assisting students to ensure their mental and physical well-being during emergency situations. Drawing from a wealth of real-life cases, he shared professional perspectives and practical experiences that proved highly valuable to attendees.

In the interactive Q&A session, staff members actively raised questions and engaged in lively exchanges with the speaker. Topics included handling students who suddenly lose emotional control and intervention techniques for those showing signs of self-harm. Participants expressed that they had gained substantial knowledge and practical skills from the interaction. More importantly, the seminar enhanced their awareness and sensitivity towards students’ psychological states.
