City University of Macau has consistently upheld its social responsibility and educational philosophy of “serving Macao, integrating into the Greater Bay Area.” The University has demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering education on patriotism and loving Macao. In the significant year of 2024, the University has organized a range of activities aimed at promoting patriotic education and enhance the awareness of national security of our staff members.
The first series of patriotic and loving Macao activities was held on January 24, with a special workshop entitled “National Security Education”. We were honored to have invited Mr. Chang Cheong, Consultant of the Office of the Secretary for Security of Macao and Mr. Wong Kin Hon, Head of National Security Intelligence Division of Judiciary Police as guest speakers. Their presence on campus allowed us to delve into the fundamental aspects of the “National Security Law”.
During the workshop, Mr. Wong provided a detailed explanation of the key provisions of the “Maintaining National Security Law,” highlighting the revisions made to relevant laws in 2023, as well as the implementation specifics in Macao. He also addressed common concerns and questions from our staff members regarding the practical application of the law in Macao. Mr. Chang further emphasized the importance of the “National Security Law” for Macao. He clarified that the legislation aims to safeguard both national and local security interests, ensuring the stable development of the country and Macao.
The workshop garnered significant attention, with attendees listening attentively to the insights shared by Mr. Chang and Mr. Wong. Participants expressed their satisfaction with the University’s initiative to organize such an educational event. Recognizing national security as the cornerstone of Macao’s prosperity and stability, they acknowledged the importance of raising awareness among all staff members. Such activities contribute to fostering a sense of patriotism and Macao identity.
The City University of Macau always pay close attention to the daily work-related training and development of staff, and also hope to take this opportunity to enhance the awareness of our staff members in National Security Education.
