CityU held the “Chinese Painting Workshop” for Staff Members to Celebrate Double Anniversaries

To celebrate this historic year with Double Anniversaries – commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, CityU held a “Chinese Painting Workshop” for staff members on October 26. This workshop provided an opportunity for staff members to create traditional Chinese ink paintings that incorporate traditional Macao architectural elements.

CityU invited the traditional Chinese painting master Zeng Zhenzhen to guide colleagues in traditional Chinese painting with the theme of Double Anniversaries celebration. Under the expert guidance of Master Zeng, colleagues sketched traditional Chinese landscape paintings, skillfully weaving in Macao’s historical architectural elements including the famous landmarks of Ruins of St. Paul’s, Macau Tower, Guia Lighthouse. These artworks skillfully blend artistic components symbolizing Chinese tradition and the unique characteristics of Macao, showcasing the timeless elegance of Macao’s traditional architecture. Participants expressed that through this activity they not only experienced the artistic beauty of traditional Chinese ink painting of leaving negative space, but also gained a deeper understanding of the different angles and details of Macao’s traditional architecture. This Chinese painting activity allowed colleagues to immerse themselves in the literary and artistic ambiance of the blended Chinese and Western cultures, and they all agreed that it was of great significance for CityU to hold this activity to celebrate this year of Double Anniversaries and made it highly memorable.
